LICENCE SCHEME: LEARNER FAQs
WHAT I’M WONDERING IS…
What is the Quality Licence Scheme?
Our Quality Licence Scheme recognises a provider’s commitment to high-quality courses in the non-regulated market by evaluating their quality processes and endorsing them. Our endorsement shows that the provider is committed to high quality and enables the providers to provide their learners with Certa Awards endorsed certificates and external recognition on the completion of their course.
Is the course I am studying a recognised qualification?
The course you are studying is not regulated by Ofqual, the regulator for qualifications in England. The course you are studying has, however, been recognised as high-quality and meets the standards we set as part of our Quality Licence Scheme.
Your course provider will be able to advise you on any further recognition, for example any progression routes into further or higher education, or any recognition from industry member bodies.
How can I tell if a Provider is endorsed by Certa Awards?
Certa Awards gives permission for providers to use our Quality Licence Scheme logo, which they may display on their website or relevant documents. If you are unsure, please visit our Quality Licence Scheme information page where you can find an up-to-date list of current providers, or get in touch with a member of our team.
Will I earn study credits that I can transfer to university or other further education?
There are no formal credit values involved in the unregulated courses provided by our Quality Licence Scheme Approved Providers. However, recognition of prior learning (RPL) will be determined by the educational institution where you wish to continue your studies, so you should contact them for further information about what learning is eligible for RPL.
Do employers recognise unregulated courses?
Your course provider will be able to advise you on any employer or industry member body recognition they may have secured.
I have seen a course being advertised which promises an Certa Awards Certificate of Achievement upon completion, however I haven’t been able to find this course on your website. How can I find out if this course if legit?
If you complete a course with a Quality Licence Scheme provider you will receive a Certificate of Achievement from Certa Awards. This certificate shows you have completed the course but it is not a certificate for a regulated qualification.
If you would like to check that a provider is legitimately working with Certa Awards, please visit our Quality Licence Scheme information page where you can find an up-to-date list of current providers. The course is owned by the provider and not us, so you will not find it on our website.
